In the design of Villa Gilbam, Davood Boroojeni prioritized finding solutions for various challenges, including the location, climate, and desired quality of the shared space. The result is a design that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings while providing a comfortable and functional living space.
The villa is situated on the slopes of a mountain in the Siahkal region of northern Iran. The land, with its unknown geometry and a slope of approximately 10% from east to west, presented an interesting challenge for the design team. To minimize intrusion and make the most of the available space, the villa was allocated to the eastern part of the land, which had previously been the site of another building.
With a total area of 750 square meters, the villa consists of three volumes arranged at different angles to create a shared space at the heart of the building. This central space offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, providing a serene and inspiring atmosphere for the residents.
One of the key design goals of Villa Gilbam was material disclosure. By using exposed materials, the design not only creates a sense of authenticity but also minimizes environmental impact. The villa showcases the beauty of natural materials, blending them seamlessly with the modern architectural elements.
Throughout the design process, Davood Boroojeni and his team conducted extensive research to ensure the project's success. They studied the needs of the client, historical texts, architectural standards, technical characteristics of materials, and the regional climate. This quantitative and qualitative approach allowed them to achieve proper functionality, desired spatial quality, and energy efficiency.
Villa Gilbam is a testament to the creativity and technical expertise of Davood Boroojeni and his team. By overcoming challenges such as optimizing light and views, they have created a design that offers a unique living experience. The villa's innovative architecture and careful consideration of its surroundings make it a true masterpiece.
The design of Villa Gilbam started in June 2016 and was completed in December 2016 in Tehran. The project has received recognition for its excellence, winning the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2022. This prestigious award acknowledges the outstanding creativity and resourcefulness of the design, showcasing its contribution to quality of life improvements.
